The Amihan team was founded by a 36 years old man, Mr. George Plaza a.k.a. “botchok “or “Kuya Jun”. He acts as a father to the team and their mentor as well. Kuya Jun does not only teach them the sports they are into right now, rather he also trains the boys how to survive in life.
As early as 5:00am in the morning the boys should be all up and do the chores that were assigned to them. Part of their discipline is doing the chores such as washing dishes, cleaning the beach, cooking, after accomplishing the chores, the boys are free to fool around and play.

Vices are a big issue for them specifically alcoholic drinks and drugs the boys are prohibited in such actions. Strictly NO VICES if you want to stay in the team. Then again, Kuya Jun serves as their inspiration being more than a father, a friend and mentor for the boys most especially in stage of difficulties. Kuya Jun loves the amihan boys very much; they are assured that Botchok will always be there for them, through the winning and losing times.

Mati City is the capital of Davao Oriental. It is located in the south eastern most part of Mindanao, with a distance of 165km from Davao City as entry point.  One of the most popular destinations in the city is, Dahican, a beach facing

the Pacific Ocean. It is about 15 minutes away from the city proper, It is where you can find crystal water, white shore sand, beautiful sunrise and tranquil scenery. Dahican is also blessed with rich marine resource- the habitat of endangered Pawikans (sea turtle), the Dolphin watching during the month of June to August and the most well-known sports in the city, surfing and skimming, yes! It is the dwelling place of the home grown surfers and skimmers as well, the AMIHAN team. The word Amihan refers to the season dominated by the trade winds, which are experienced here in Philippines. Amihan breeze begins sometime in September or October and ends sometime in May or June. During the said season, waves for surfing and skimming are taking place on the beach.

Some people may find the waves too scary for them but not for the amihan boys. They really love the waves especially those big ones. They are always stoked and craving for more good waves to give in their best rides. Visitors from different places particularly the skimmers and surfers truly admire the good waves and the scenery of the beach.  One skimmer from Zambales, Mr. Ted Villanueva, gave his own expression on Dahican as “The Skim Paradise”.
Dahican beach offers outstanding factors that will soon to be one of the prominent attractions here in our country. Several individuals have witnessed its wonders from nature.
See for yourself.  And Have fun with us. Come and visit Amihan sa Dahican.
